Frequently Asked Questions

What Is The Investment?

  • Four 45-minute lessons are $360.00.

  • Four one-hour lessons are $580.00.

Do You Teach Adults?

YES! Adults comprise more than half of the students at the Baker Piano Studio.

What Payment Method Does The Baker Piano Studio Accept?

The studio website has a direct payment method (all major cards accepted), and Chase Bank Direct Payments (Zelle), and Venmo are also accepted. A 4-lesson payment is made at the beginning of each month for that month.

Cancellations

Baker Piano Lessons are non-refundable but may be rescheduled one time only 48 hours before the lesson time. Notification under 48 hours will result in the student forfeiting the lesson fee.

Monthly & Bundle Packages

We have a strict 48-cancellation policy.

Monthly packages are to be paid on the first day of the month in advance and are non-refundable. For monthly and Bundle packages, students are required to commit to at least one lesson per week (4-5 lessons per month).

Pre-paid lessons must be scheduled within 60 days or the fee will be forfeited.

There is no transfer of any portion of tuition from one month to another. Students must provide 30-day advance notice for ending weekly lessons, including extended breaks. If a time slot is empty for more than two weeks in a row it may be released and offered to another student. The 30-day notice must be provided in writing to info@bakerpianolessons.com

Students must have their method books and music with them for their lessons.

Refund Policy

There are no exchanges, credits, or refunds for lessons. Once payment has been made, the student must commit to taking the lessons they have purchased or they will forfeit the fee.

Lateness

Lessons are back-to-back and if the student arrives late it will not be possible to extend the lesson time past the prior agreed-upon time.

Attendance

For all children’s lessons, a parent or guardian must remain at the studio location. The Baker Piano Studio is not liable for any personal belongings, loss, injury, claim, or damages that may arise.

Fees

A $50 registration fee is required upon first enrollment and each following season.

I Don’t Have A Piano, Do I Need To Get One?

You absolutely must have a full-size keyboard or piano to practice on at home. Pianists of all levels practice daily, and renting rehearsal rooms is too unreliable and costly over time.

Find quick links for instruments on the Resources page.

How Often Should I Take Lessons?

Adults take lessons once a week. If an adult student’s work schedule is particularly intense they may take lessons every other week, but please remember that lessons less than twice monthly lose momentum for improvement.

Young children (ages 6 to 8) who are beginners take a 30-minute each week. Children over age 8 take one 45-minute lesson each week.

If you have any questions, simply contact me with the form, and I will get back to you within 24-hours.

When Is The Baker Piano Studio Open?

Lessons begin at 11:00 AM and conclude at 6:30 PM on both weekends and weekdays.

Can Students Take Online Lessons?

In addition to thirty years of in-person lessons, I have expanded my teaching during the past six years to include online lessons to students in Japan, Scotland, Israel, Brazil, and Germany, as well as across the United States.

Do You Give In-Person Lessons?

Yes, when health protocols are followed. Prior to agreeing to lessons I send proof that I am vaccinated and boosted, and in return expect proof of at least double-vaccination for adults entering the studio. Children must be vaccinated to gain entry, and their accompanying caregiver should provide prior proof of at least double vaccination. For any questions please contact me.

Are Online Lessons As Good As In-Person Lessons?

YES! I have installed a professional sound system and two cameras that enable me to fully illustrate every possible challenge at the piano that any student encounters. Online lessons require as much, if not more, energy and attention than in-person lessons. The good news is that I have found when intelligent people are together online to accomplish their goals, they can do so very effectively. If students want to succeed they will.
